Emergency Medical Sciences (TAEMS)
The Academy of Emergency Medical Sciences (TAEMS) is a subsidiary of World Road Safety Partnership (WRSP). TAEMS comprises of a team of specialists from Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Management. TAEMS has a well equipped training centre at Trivandrum where courses with hands-on training are conducted for healthcare and non-healthcare personnel. Courses such as: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advance Life Support (ALS), ICU Management, Trauma Management & Stabilization, EMT Training Programs, Pre-hospital Casualty Management, Extrication and Rescue Operations, and occupational safety trainings such as First Aid & Safety Training (FAST) etc. are conducted.
The prime objective of TAEMS is to establish a Post Crash Management (PCM) system in the developing countries. Records reveal that in developing countries nearly 34% of the deaths and 55% of permanent disability due to road traffic accidents are caused by improper handling or mishandling of the accident victim at the crash scene or while transporting them to the hospital. This is a shocking revelation!! Therefore, WRSP recognized the need for developing a separate entity dedicated for developing/ dealing with post-crash issues, hence TAEMS was born.
